Augustian Drought

August, you were a dry one.

An Unexpectedly dry one.

I do not know what happened, or why.

But you were real dry.

No crops. No Raindrops.

No wildlife. No sound of the fife.

Parched ground. A scorched mound.

River at a very lower height. Will not excite.

Peach tree looking very dry just like sky.

Songbird did not say his word.

This drought must be fought!

This Augustian drought will be an event to be learned from.

August, you were a dry one.

New Waters

Last week, I successfully updated all of my social media profiles to the new Millennium River Natural Space. Designing the logo was not hard, but it was definitely more time-consuming than I thought. This certainly explains why companies often have dedicated logo designers, or may even use the service an independant contractor. Despite the time it took, I am fairly pleased with how it looks. Depending on your expections, you may view it as a pleasant, neat, simple image. On the other side of the fence, you may think that it looks bland? Not detailed enough? Should anybody be on that side of the coin, it should be important to note that I did not design the Millennium River images to compete with award-winning artists. I simply wanted a design to do away with the weird “Millennium Vortex” of the Millennium Creek era. I did not want something complicated. At the same time, I did not want something absolutely bare bones.

The Meaning Of The Design

The new dominant logo used across much of Millennium River as an icon is called the Millennium River Natural Space.

Perhaps the most obvious element of the brand image is the river. In this case, the river represents Millennium River, hence its placement between the two mountains. Rivers are clearly, and proudly the central theme of this brand. Oddly, enough, I have not written much about them.

The green that surrounds the river represents lush grass that is thriving from the pristine river that feeds them.

The trees in front of the mountains are pear trees. Most Millennium River picture profiles portray a trinity of them in front of the mountains. For profile pictures that demand a small resolution, you may only see a single tree per mountain. Why pear trees? Pears are great fruits.

The Twin Mountains represent pleasant viewing. Millennium River is indeed pleasant for viewing, as it does not have explicit content, nor is it a low quality, pump-20-pieces-a-day content mill. That said, this does not mean Millennium River is scarce of content. Far from it. As mountains have more than one side of them to see, the same is true for this river. Millennium River has lots of write-ups from blog posts, articles, and more for viewers to engage with.

I love daylight. I went with clear blue skies to not only show my love for this, but to also represent a clear vision: working to become a successful remote content creator.

The shining sun represents brightness. Even when you may not be feeling joyous at times, seeing sunshine manages to ignite a little happiness. The sun is both beautiful and potent, making it a no-brainer to include it within my theme. No wonder many things tote a smiling sun.

Lastly, is of course the written letters of the brand name: Millennium River. Self-explantory. It should be noted that though it is usually in the form of an arch, the angle of the arch is not specific. In some places, such as the website banner, “River” does not even appear under “Millennium” opting to literally appear in the Millennium River. River in the river. Does not get any more river than that.

Millennium Eyes

Yes, the Millennium River natural space is not the only visual I designed for the brand. In fact, you can expect to see more original Millennium River visuals come into existence between now and the 6th birthday of the brand for next year. Some may be open and easy to see. Others might be a little more secretive. At the time of this typing (2021-07-13) it is only my Twitter profile and My Profile WordPress icon with the Millennium’s eyes. This could certainly change in the future. To make matters more cryptic, I should also note that “Millennium Eyes” is not the official name of the eyes you are looking at. Those eyes happen to belong to a body. Whose body? Time may tell. There are another pair of eyes around the River that may see you.

Website Tagline

Gone with “Professionalism and passion flowing in harmony” and hello to “Words and passion flowing in harmony” Why? Millennium River is a new era and is long past the days of attempting to sell services. No need to make it sound like a independant contractor who is still trying to pitch to clients. I have since followed a different course. Between now and the time this website turns 6 next year, I will have another tagline, hopefully more unique, in place. For now, I think this one sounds pretty nice.

Finally Doing It: Rebranding From Creek To River

Not Truly Suprising

Depending on how long you have been following this waterbody-themed website, this should not come off as a surprise, especially if you have read My Story 2020, or the more recent Millennium Creek Turns 5. Yes, my website turned 5 back in February. For some reason, it does not feel like it has been that long though. Yesterday, I Tweeted that change was coming. Well, this it finally it.

Earlier Intentions

For a long time, I knew this workstation of mine had a temperamental Wi-fi card. On Monday, June 28, 2021, when I finally decided I would go ahead to rebrand Millennium Creek to Millennium River, the Wi-fi card reached heinous levels of wickedness. It was at that point, where I knew that I had to stop wrestling with connect-disconnect or resetting the driver. None of that worked. Uninstall and reinstall the driver? It would be highly romantic to even remotely think that would work with a Wi-fi driver that decided to go from being a driver to a killer. A killer of signals, that is. Alright, what was the next step? Either get a new internal driver, or get a wireless network adapter.

Wireless Network Adapter

I decided to go the route of using a USB wireless network adapter very obvious reasons:

  1. Far more cost effective
  2. Far more portable
  3. Does not require opening your computer
  4. Does the same job without the fuss

Which adpater did I go with? The ASUS Wireless AC1300 USB 3.0 Wi-Fi Adapter with External High Gain Antenna (USB-AC56R). That is certainly a mouthful, hence why it is usually simply referred to as Asus AC1300 USB. I saw the Linksys AC1200 Wireless AC USB Adapter (WUSB6300-CA), but passed it because I wanted something with an anntena for extra strength. Then there was the NETGEAR Nighthawk Wireless AC1900 USB Adapter (A7000-10000S)with very impressive specifications and an equally high price tag of $100. Because I was experimenting with wireless network adapters for the first time, I needed something that could do the job, but was not too cheap or too expensive. My experience with the Asus? I have only been using it since yesterday, so I cannot give you a full review. So far, it is working fine.

If it does fail within 30 days or so, I will consider trying something Linksys or NETGEAR

Why Did You Do It? And Why Now?

I did not like “Creek”. I mean, creeks in reality are cool places to see, but when it comes onto naming, rivers are way better. This is not to say that I am going to eventually think rivers are too weak, and then decide to become Millennium Ocean. No, not happening. Creeks, rivers, and oceans are all equally ecologically important. Therefore, any any viewer ever wanted to have creek in their name, you are not a lesser. This is absolutely not about making myself sound big, almighty, powerful, flashy, extravagant, and insert whatever else adjective. Creek was honestly way too boring and just not satisfying at all. Why did I wear that badge for so long if I did not like it? Because I thought that I would not have the time to ever get around it, which could not be any further from the truth.

The hard truth is that I did not want to make the time. I was thinking about changing the name a week or so before February 01, 2022, which would commerate my website’s 6th birthday. I then decided the idea of doing that would be neat, but also unintelligent. If I am to transfer this brand into something that I will be more proud of, and care about, it is better sooner than later. Because tomorrow marks the celebration Canada’s 153rd birthday, that in its own right is also special. Rebranding in time for Canaday Day 2021. Since I have brought it up, I should briefly mention that there are calls this year to treat Canada Day 2021 more as a Day of refletion, as opposed to wildly partying as if nothing happened. I will write more on this in a separate write-up.

Links And Icons

Since yesterday, I have updating links and usernames to Millennium River. Though it was rather time-consuming, it was nowehere near as bad as I thought it would be. It honestly went through pretty smoothly, too. Today, I focused on updating the icons and avatars across Millennium River and its social media accounts. Speaking of this, it extremely important to note that the current avatars, banners, icons and others, are placeholders. Therefore, if anyone is to assume that I am really going to go about with such rudimentary visual, I will not. Not that anybody made a big fuss about it, but it is still important to let people know, so that they do not get the wrong impression of the rebranding as a sign of wanting to go backwards in quality. That said, I should also let viewers know that the quality is not going to be drastically better either. I am, of course, pushing to go forewards, but the quality will not realistically reach the stars overnight.

The River Of August

I will draw up the new visuals for the Creek-Turned-River of brand of mine during July. I plan to have them all done before August, hence “The River Of August” meaning that the River is going to show its real appeareance then. Unlike the Millennium Creek era where I did not put a ton of time into making them, this time around, I would like to invest more quality time into it. No, the new visuals are not going to win awards. I highly doubt anyone was expecting them win rewards in the first place. Still, it is better to say this, should any professional graphic designers or other visual artists of the sort decide to chime in with such expections. This is not to say that you are not allowed to voice constructive criticism on them when you see them, but to keep in mind that they will not be designed to be sensational.

How Different Will Millennium River Be From Millennium Creek?

This is perhaps the biggest question anyone will have when they see this. After all, the name was not a complete change, nor did I even change the slogan: “Professionalism and passion flowing in harmony”. The same blue theme is still present, too. “Wait, this is hardly a rebranding at all” you might be saying. “All you did was just replace Creek with River” you might say. Truth is, you are mostly correct. Millennium River is not intended to be a drastic departure from Millennium Creek. At least not in terms of the type of content that I upload. Visuals? Yes. Upload frequency? Yes, I plan to change this, too. Truth is, I already told myself that during the Creek days I wanted to try and atleast get 2-4 uploads per month, as opposed to only 1. Quality over quantity is still my thing, so sorry, daily posts and clickbait will not ever be happening in this River. Never happened in the Creek, absolutely not in my river.

The biggest change between Creek and River will honestly be in social media presence. Millennium Creek was only present on basically Instagram, Twitter, and Ko-fi. For more Millennium River, the are 3 other ones that I have on mind that I will expand my riverbanks into. Though I have plans to set them up real soon, I will not announce it until I have wiped out lingering Millennium Creek fragments, updated all visuals, and completed other necessary things.

5 Years

Like fish swimming swiftly the creek, birds flying rapidly across the sky, squirrels jumping from branch to branch, it feels the same way to the describe the time pass for Millennium Creek. Wow! Time has certainly gone by. Anyone who has read the history for Millennium Creek, will know that it was essentially “Millennium Zero” during its beginning years. There was no content in it during those days. Fast forward to now, and there is 72 published writings at the time of this writing. Not bad for a one-man website that only publishes high quality write-ups, be it short-form, long-form, a blog or an article. Professionalism and passion are remain as the core attributes of Millennium Creek.

Timeline Of The Years?

Last year on April 22, 2020, I uploaded a post called My Story 2020. There, I went over the entire history of Millennium Creek in detail from its very beginning on February 01, 2016, up to the point that write-up was uploaded. Seeing as though it is only 2021, it makes no sense to reiterate the entire history again, only to include 2021. Perhaps once it gets to 2030, it would be justifiable to go over the history of 10-year-old Millennium Creek. Wait, will it even be Millennium Creek then? Will it grow into something entirely different? Just the thoughts of such scenarios alone makes it so mysterious of what will become of Millennium Creek by then. Not to mention the nature of the Internet in general. A lot can change in a decade. In fact, just looking at the start of 2020 to 2021 alone, I can already predict that the 2020s are going to make the 2010s feel antiquated. Such a topic would be a write-up on its own.

Now And Forward

For Millennium Creek Turns 5, I will be focusing on what I plan to do with the creek now and going forward.

The Name

One of the things I planned to do for the 5th year of Millennium Creek was to rebrand it to Millennium *Not Telling You Yet*. If you read the history, this should not come off as too surprising. Do I hate the name? No. Definitely not the Millennium part of it. But for the Creek part of it, I would be lying to say that I did not think about changing it many times. At this point, it does sound like I hate it, right? No. Then if not, why is this not the first, second, or even third time that we are bringing up this subject? Because I want to do it, but have not due to timing and inconvencies it may cause.

Let us start with timing. For much of January 2021, I was busy doing many other things not pertained to Millennium Creek. In order to properly and smoothly change part of the brand name, I would need to set aside a good chunk of time in advance. This is not only to update links that would not automatically redirect, but change other things such as logos, avatars, watermarks, and more. These are certainly not things you can do smoothly in a very short time frame. This naturally leads to the next point: inconvenience.

Particularly when it comes onto electronic messaging and the links that do not automatically redirect to the new brand. Without going on further, you get the idea, and perhaps have even been in similar dilemma?

2021

If you ask any content creator what they plan to do for 2021, you may get the typical cliché responses such as “Make more content”, “Engage with my audience more”, “Try to build a bigger audience”, “Try new things” and similar. Is Millennium Creek the same? In many ways, yes. When I look back at my 2020 record, for most months I only uploaded 1 write-up. April 2020 was a notable exception where I uploaded 3 posts. As you will know from my About page, pumping out content like crazy was never my thing, and will certainly not become my thing for 2021 or the future. That said, I would like to try and get no less than 2 posts per month for the 2021 year. Perhaps even 3 posts. Well, we will have to excuse January 2021 for reasons mentioned earlier, which resulted in that month only getting 1 upload. The outlook for February 2021 is looking possible for 2-3 posts

What Kind Of Topics?

Will I introduce new topics for the 2021 year? Depends on what you mean by “topics”. If you mean completely new and vastly different subjects such as “Doing Your Own Make-up Like A Professional” or “How To Get Into Basketball”  you will be up for disappointment. If you were hoping to see things like more different electric cars mentioned, a revival of animal posts, commentary posts, then you will be immensely excited for what will float up in Millennium Creek for 2021!

2022 And Beyond

Depending on what is being predicted, predicting the future can either be easy, difficult, impossible, or grey. It can even be scary, exciting, fun or something you would rather not do. Toss a coin and it will be heads or tails. Drop your phone on the concrete without protection and it will be scratched or even shatter. If you were to write a letter, roll it up, put it into a bottle, and let it drift into the Atlantic Ocean, it would be extremely difficult to accurately predict where it might end up. Will it be destroyed in an hour? Will it somehow make its way back to shore? Will a boater fatefully notice it and pick it up? Will the environmental officers fine you for littering? When there are many scenarios, accurate predictions become many times more difficult.

For 2022 and beyond, I expect that Millennium Creek will continue flow along with the same general character and content themes. Aspects of it could naturally change, but till then, I do not see a worrisome or drastically future for the creek.

Make The Next 5 Years Magnificent

The Mysterious Tweet

“It has been a year… they have now been removed…” In a highly unusual move, those were my words last night on Twitter. In another highly unusual move, I am making this post today to inform viewers what exactly was removed: my service pages.

Nothing Surprising

According to the statistics, nobody has read My Story 2020 at the time of this post. Similarly, nobody has read the post from last year that also touched on this. I strongly encourage readers to read My Story 2020. This will not only let you know why this was done, but also give you a detailed history of Millennium Creek.

Time To Move On

The service pages were launched May 30, 2019. As such, I decided to finally remove them exactly one year later: May 30, 2020. Exactly one year from this day, was the day I officially made the announcements that they were up and live. Conversely, today is the day that I am announcing their official removal. Do not let “Time To Move On” or even this post itself, give you the impression that I am quitting Millennium Creek. I am not. If anything, I have been monitoring the creek and decided that the stagnant areas of it had to go. In the case of those service pages, they have truthfully been officially stagnant since I made that September 3rd Update back in 2019.

What Will Happen Next?

It has been very quiet here for over a month now. I have some writing topics on mind, but I do not know when I will post them. Almost certainly at some point in June. I also hope to get at least two or more writings done for that month. In the meantime, you can read other interesting posts such as COVID-19: A Wake Up Call For ChangeEarth Day 2020Tesla Cybertruck, or others that better suit your interests.
