About Us

We are Thunder Things Automotive Group, also frequently called Thunder Things or TTAG. We are an ambitious, innovative, high-tech, luxury Canadian automotive company, founded in 2015, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

 The Mission

It is nearly two decades into the 21st century, yet there are two problems that have not been resolved: still too many fossil fuel-powered vehicles, and no native Canadian automotive industry. The latter is particularly sad; disturbing and perplexing if being entirely honest. There are so many bright, talented minds in Canada. But, nobody has bothered to step up to the challenge and create something from the ground up in this country. We are finally changing this. Canadians will no longer have to wonder about their identity in the automotive scene. Canadians will have something to proud of. Vehicles that will be able haul, tow, and handle the varying climate and landscape of Canada with ease. Vehicles that will run on nothing, but pure electricity and Canadian pride.

The Name

Most automotive manufacturers are named after their founders, or someone with significance to the company. Sometimes even an animal, plant, element or other physical subject. We went down the elements of nature route. From there, we naturally decided to go with a thunder theme. After brainstorming some combinations, we finally came down to Thunder Things. Not only does it suit the business perfectly, but can either come off as a little humorous or ominous, depending on how you see it.

Thunder Things Vehicles

In our lineup, we have the body-on-frame pickup truck and SUV, then a crossover to followup 2-3 years after their launch. Whichever of the three you have your desires set on, you will not be let down by their uncompromising utility, features and technology.

Thunder Things River Rider $120,000

6000mm long, 2200mm wide, 260mm of ground clearance, a 200kWh battery pack, and a 400 litre front trunk, the Thunder Things River Rider (TTRR) is a commodious, high-riding, province-crossing, territory-trekking, all-electric, full-sized pickup truck. You would expect such a behemoth to be a heavy, unwieldy cage on wheels, but it is not. The River Rider’s all-aluminum build has resulted in a drastically reduced weight. The large battery pack at the bottom of the chassis, not only allows for fantastic range, but also results in a low center of gravity to significantly reduce rollover risks. And the interior? Premium synthetic leather, a telescopic steering wheel, and optional bench seats for front and rear are some of your many options.

TT Lightning Crew $135,000

The Thunder Things Lightning Crew (TTLC) is a River Rider without a truck bed. In place of a bed, it has a closed cargo area and third row of seats. This means that you get most of the same utility found on its pickup truck sibling. As with every three-row SUV based off of a truck sibling, this does result in slightly lower towing and payload capacity, as well as range. The advantages gained are seating for 9, and a permanently enclosed cargo area that is accessed by a hatch, or from simply folding down the third row. Choose the Lightning Crew over the River Rider if you prefer SUV styling or prioritize seating. Regardless of the two you choose, you will have the world’s most powerful, full-sized, electric passenger truck under your possession.

TT Water World $50,000

The Thunder Things Water World (TTWW) will be our more affordable, mass volume product 2-3 years after the launch of our truck duo. It is a mid-sized crossover, but certainly not a boring one. It can accelerate from 0-100km in 2.8 seconds! This is thanks to its aluminum body and all-electric, all-wheel drive system that allows the vehicle to sprint like lightning when you command it to. Similarly to its truck siblings, it sits high (230mm) to give you a good view of the road, features premium-grade synthetic leather, and has the option for front bench seats, to allow you to seat up to six people.

About Us

My name is Andrew Montpelier. I came from a small town of less than 6,000 people in Jamaica called Seaforth. From a young age, I have always loved reptiles. Being born in a tropical country that is home to many amazing species made me even happier and more appreciative of them. Not everyone was a fan, though. Some people were afraid of them, and would run away them. This made it fun to scare girls and boys alike with snakes, lizards, and frogs! Unfortunately, there were many people that would also resort to murdering them, especially snakes. Not cool. My parents moved to Canada when I was 12, which meant no more tropical species in my backyard. Nevertheless, Canada brought plenty of wonderful options that made it worth the move.

Upon graduating from high school, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from the University of Guelph. Knowing in advance that there were already several snake shops in place, and that snakes are not quite as popular as cats, dogs, hamsters, budgies and cockatiels, I had to separate myself from the crowd. Majority of the snake sellers in Ontario, or Canada as whole honestly, sell primarily 5 things: royal pythons, king snakes, milk snakes, rat snakes, and an assortment of Central and South American boas. Barring the Suriname red-tailed boas, because they are too beautiful to not work with, I carry none of those. The common snakes are plenty awesome, but the rarer species are a special treat to work with and sell.

I opened a facility in Mississauga, and I am grateful to be able to do what I enjoy for a living. I named it Seaforth Serpents to pay homage to my hometown, and the fact that it is a shop full of serpents! Check it out online or in-store.

Meet The Seaforth Serpents Team

Andrew Montpelier

If “About Us” was the first thing you read when you visited the website for the first time, then you will know that I am the founder and head manager of Seaforth Serpents. I am the man who is responsible for overseeing and leading the Seaforth Serpents team. When I am not in the facility, I enjoy watching TV, spending time with my wife, a walk around town, and occasionally sports with friends. I own a pair of red-tailed boas, Jamaican boas, and fire skinks.

Amancia

The tech-savvy Amancia is the woman responsible for the social media posts of Seaforth Serpents. Her knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and digital marketing made it a no-brainer to give her the social media role. Her fun, witty personality also makes her great to interact with. She owns two royal pythons: a freeway and a puma. Outside of Seaforth Serpents, she enjoys photography, watching movies and trekking.

Anthony

Oh, Anthony! This man is a very outgoing, sociable guy, that will gladly welcome you and help you find something in store, should you request a particular product. And because he happens to own a pair of Angolan pythons himself, an elusive species we carry here, he has fantastic knowledge on the species. When he is not doing customer service upfront, he will look after the Angolan python department. He is anything, but boring to be around! Outside of the shop, he enjoys hanging out with friends, soccer and games.

Tara

Tara is responsible for the red-tailed boa constrictors. Being an organized type of person, she also helps to keep the inventory in order, and reports products that have gone out of stock. Drawing, playing the flute, and shopping is what she likes most. She owns a pair of leopard geckos.

Nicholas

He is the Jolly Old Saint Nicholas! Except that he is not old. Yet. Nicholas has a bright, positive attitude towards life and his work ethic. Traits that are much needed in any type of business, especially when chores can get a little dirty at times. His roles are primarily to look after our Jamaican boas, as well as dealing with inventory. Cycling, listening to music, and spending time with family is what he enjoys most in his spare time. He owns a rottweiler, Labrador retriever, and two Malaysian blood pythons.

Candice

Candice can be rather talkative, but she is a fantastic person to have on-board. She is a social, friendly, hilarious, story-teller that will brighten you up. Oh, and she also happens to own not one, but two of the species we carry at Seaforth Serpents, making her a knowledgeable asset. Since she owns a blacked-headed and woma python, she has naturally been given the role to look after these species in the facility. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, hanging out with friends, and working out at the gym.

Glenmore

Glenmore is the man responsible for caring for the Tropidophis (Caribbean wood snakes) snakes. Being a genus of species not frequently seen in the pet trade, it takes someone with a little more than just “Internet knowledge” to be in charge of them. And that is where Glenmore comes in hand. Being an owner of the Cuban wood snake, Feick’s dwarf boa, and Haitian wood boa, Glenmore has extensive knowledge on the species. His gentle, professional disposition, makes him a pleasant worker here. Outside of the shop, he plays the clarinet, enjoys strolls around town, and electronics

Hailey

Hailey has a rather interesting story because she was not exactly into reptiles. How did she end up here? Well, She loves animals. But, she also likes to try and experiment with new things, so she decided to have a go with working around reptiles. Since her time here, she has grown to be so much more appreciative of them, and has even ended up with a diamond python! Who would have thought? Her open-mindedness and adaptive attitude has not only earned her a role here, but has also brought great value to us.

Snakes For Sale

At Seaforth Serpents we sell red-tailed boas, Jamaican boas, Angolan pythons, Tropidophis, womas, black-headed pythons, and diamond pythons. Read each species profile to learn more about it, and choose the one that suits you best. All of our snakes offered for sale are captive bred and healthy.

Red-tailed boa – Boa constrictor constrictor $400

There are several subspecies of boa constrictors, but the one we work with is the nominate boa constrictor constrictor, particularly the Suriname locale. The vibrant red tail on this locale is what sets is apart from the pack. This is also what makes it a highly sought after common boa in captivity. Because this species can reach lengths of 180cm – 245cm for females, and 150cm – 210cm for males, it is definitely on the larger side, but certainly not the largest in the pet trade.

Angolan Python – Python anchietae $600

“Is that a larger royal python morph?” You might ask. No, but is a very close relative of it: the Angolan python! So why exactly is it not as popular as its smaller cousin? Because of its extremely limited range in the wild, only occupying a small part of Namibia and Angola. Past wars have left mines in parts of the region, and consequently made it dangerous to collect specimens and ship them across world. As a result, the Angolan python has not had the chance to be bred in large numbers for international markets. Luckily for us, and you the snake enthusiast, we have been able to get a hold of this species and breed it. If you love beady textures, you will love the feel of the Angolan python. This is one of its features that separate it from many other snakes. This snake’s size ranges from 140cm – 170cm

Jamaican boa – Chilabothrus subflavus $2000

The mascot of Seaforth Serpents. This species is particularly special here, because it reminds Montepelier of his home island, Jamaica, the same island it is endemic to. Unfortunately, habitat loss driven their numbers down to the point that they have become an internationally protected species. For the same reasons, they are very rare in reptile collections due to the work involved in getting them imported. We are extremely privileged to able to breed this species here in Canada. Despite their rarity, the species itself is not harder than any other boa to keep. With an average length of 180cm, sometimes going up to 230cm, they are on the larger side.

Tropidophis $150 – $250

The Tropidophis family is a genus of dwarf boas endemic to the Caribbean and South America. 17 Species exist, but at Seaforth Serpents we work with the Cuban wood snake (Tropidophis melanurus), Feick’s dwarf boa (Tropidophis feicki), Haitian wood boa (Tropidophis haetianus), Bahamian pygmy boa (Tropidophis canus), and the Caicos dwarf boa (Tropidophis greenwayi lanthanus). Most of them average 30cm – 60cm depending on the species and sex. This makes them ideal for people who do not want a large constrictor, and would like something more unique than a sand boa, or South and Central American boa.

Woma – Aspidites ramsayi $600

The woma python is one of the two Aspidites species that we are fortunate to work with. The woma looks much like its close relative, the black-headed python, only it notably lacks the “ink dipped” head. Its colouration is also brighter, too. These snakes hail from Australia, but have found their way in collections around the world. They range from 150cm – 260cm long.

Black-headed Python – (Aspidites melanocephalus) $1200

The python with the jet black head. Not a common species, but availability has improved in recent years. Their rarity also commands a higher price than its more available relative. As the name suggests, they look like a woma python that has had its head dipped in permanent black ink. Sizes are rather variable, with a range as low as 150cm, to up 250cm and sometimes longer.

Diamond Python – Morelia spilota spilota $700

The diamond python has three things going for it: a nice name, nice looks and a nice personality. It gets its name from the numerous scale clusters on its body, that look like diamonds. So if you have always wanted a large, olive-scaled, diamond-like python, this species may be the one for you. Do bare in mind that they average 200cm – 300cm, with exceptional specimens even getting up to 400cm! Not common, but one of the things you should think about before buying a diamond python.
